The SISKA has tools and ex\u00adpe\u00adrience in this field, and works in col\u00adla\u00adbo\u00adra\u00adtion with the Centre for Hy\u00addro\u00adgeo\u00adlo\u00adgy and Geo\u00adther\u00admal Ener\u00adgy at the Uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty of Neu\u00adch\u00e2\u00adtel, which is a re\u00adco\u00adgni\u00adsed centre of ex\u00adper\u00adtise.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Fundamental research<\/h2>\n<h3>Speleogenesis<\/h3>\n<div>\n<p>Caves and kars\u00adtic land\u00adscapes are the re\u00adsult of the dis\u00adso\u00adlu\u00adtion of li\u00admes\u00adtone in rain\u00adwa\u00adter. Comprendre comment se forment les grottes pr\\u00e9sente un int\\u00e9r\\u00eat \\u00e9vident pour le sp\\u00e9l\\u00e9ologue qui les explore. Cependant, la pr\\u00e9vision de la pr\\u00e9sence d'un vide souterrain constitue aussi une information importante pour un ing\\u00e9nieur qui doit construire un tunnel ou pour un hydrog\\u00e9ologue qui doit capter de l'eau.<\\\/p>\\n\n\n<p>Plusieurs mod\\u00e8les num\\u00e9riques de sp\\u00e9l\\u00e9ogen\\u00e8se ont \\u00e9t\\u00e9 d\\u00e9velopp\\u00e9s au cours des 35 derni\\u00e8res ann\\u00e9es. Ils nous ont appris \\u00e9norm\\u00e9ment de choses sur les principes, les vitesses de formation et les grandes lignes de la g\\u00e9om\\u00e9trie des r\\u00e9seaux de galeries souterraines. Cependant, la caract\\u00e9risation des param\\u00e8tres de terrain, permettant d'alimenter ces mod\\u00e8les, est comparativement relativement en retard. L'ISSKA contribue donc par ses recherches \\u00e0 fournir des donn\\u00e9es de terrain, \\u00e0 les repr\\u00e9senter et \\u00e0 les confronter aux r\\u00e9sultats des mod\\u00e8les de simulation.<\\\/p>\\n\n\n<p>Les structures karstiques ne se d\\u00e9veloppent clairement pas de mani\\u00e8re al\\u00e9atoire. Nous en avons cern\\u00e9 les caract\\u00e9ristiques g\\u00e9n\\u00e9rales, et pouvons esquisser les zones potentiellement les plus karstifi\\u00e9es. Parmi celles-ci  l'ISSKA \\u00e9value principalement l'effet du changement climatique sur les \\u00e9l\\u00e9ments suivants.<\\\/span><\\\/p>\\n\n\n<ul>\\n\n\n<li><span>L'infiltration d'eau dans le sous-sol ou recharge des aquif\\u00e8res. Elle Influence directement la quantit\\u00e9 d'eau souterraine disponible. Elle r\\u00e9sulte d'un \\u00e9quilibre d\\u00e9licat entre facteurs climatiques (pr\\u00e9cipitations, temp\\u00e9rature...) et biop\\u00e9dologiques (v\\u00e9g\\u00e9tation et sols).<\\\/span><\\\/li>\\n\n\n<li><span>La pr\\u00e9cipitation de calcite dans les stalagmites concerne surtout la reconstitution pal\\u00e9oclimatique. Les couches de calcite d\\u00e9pos\\u00e9es dans les stalagmites enregistrent les conditions climatiques r\\u00e9gnant au moment de leur d\\u00e9p\\u00f4t, de mani\\u00e8re analogue aux anneaux du tronc d'un arbre.<\\\/span><\\\/li>\\n\n\n<li><span>La dissolution du calcaire joue un r\\u00f4le dans le ralentissement du r\\u00e9chauffement climatique. En effet, il est d\\u00e9montr\\u00e9 que le r\\u00e9chauffement climatique accentue l'activit\\u00e9 biologique des sols, induisant une augmentation de la teneur en CO2 du sol. L'eau qui s'infiltre dans le sol dissout par cons\\u00e9quent plus de CO2, ce qui lui permet ensuite de dissoudre plus de calcaire. Il en r\\u00e9sulte que pour chaque mol\\u00e9cule suppl\\u00e9mentaire de calcaire dissous, une mol\\u00e9cule a \\u00e9t\\u00e9 pr\\u00e9lev\\u00e9e dans le sol, donc dans l'atmosph\\u00e8re terrestre.
